Two Himachal Residents to be Honoured by Punjab Kala Sahitya Academy

Punjab Kala Sahitya Academy has decided to honour two persons from Himachal Pradesh for their contribution in folk art and culture of the state and the medical profession on 14th November, 2010 at Jalandhar.

While Mela Ram Sharma has been chosen for his contribution in the field of Folk Art and Culture of Himachal Pradesh, Dr Ramesh Chand as deputy medical superintendent Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital would be conferred the award for serving the underprivileged sections of the society by providing free medical aid. He has also been organizing free medical check up camps for them in the rural areas for the last many years.

Both, Mela Ram Sharma and Dr. Ramesh Chand will be conferred the award by Manoranjan Singh Kalia, Health Minister of Punjab at a function to be held at K.L. Memorial Hall Jalandhar on 14th November, 2010, a spokesman said.
