History has seldom been displayed with such preciseness as it has been at the Himachal State Museum. For those wanting to revisit the history of India and HP, a trip to the Museum is a must! Housed in an old Victorian mansion and perched on a lonely hill, it offers a scenic view of the city and is a quiet haven from the noisy streets of the city. The Museum houses more than 10, 000 antiquities and artifacts of sculptures, Pahari miniature paintings, wall paintings, bronzes, arms, woodcarvings, numismatics, jewelery, philately, Gandhi as well as an anthropological gallery. In addition to these galleries, the museum has a rich collection of over 5000 titles related to art and history and a conference hall to facilitate the needs of research scholars.
