Shimla: To speed up boring of proposed road tunnel project, the government is considering outsourcing 3 project on build own operate transfer basis (BOOT)
The state government would explore the possibilities of outsourcing the proposed three tunnel projects besides starting work on Swarghat and Shimla tunnels on priority, chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister revealed while presiding over a high level meeting.
He said that the construction of Dhaneta-Bangana, Holi-Uttrala and Bhubhujot-Kullu tunnels would shorten distances by several kilometers and helps to keep the movement of vehicular traffic open throughout the year.
He said that it would be more appropriate to engage the services of experts engaged in vehicular tunnel boring projects so that execution of the project was started early. The chief minister asked the authorities to complete codal formalities for outsourcing and preparation of detailed project report for constructing these projects on a BOOT basis so as to save time and money.
