IWL commissions wind power project in Himachal Pradesh

Gujarat Fluorochemicals Ltd (GFL) has announced that Inox Wind Ltd (IWL), the Company’s subsidiary company, has effectively commissioned its project at a village called Basal in Una District of Himachal Predesh, for manufacturing Wind Operated Electricity Generators – Wind Turbines comprising of Nacelle(s) and Hub(s) for 2 MW Wind Turbine. We have commenced commercial production of Nacelle(s) and Hub(s) for 2 MW wind turbine based on double-fed induction generator wind turbine design provided by Austria-based AMSC Windtec and have dispatched the first unit on 26th March, 2010.

Inox Wind Limited, incorporated in April 2009, is investing around Rs.150 crores (USD 32.5m) to set up manufacturing facilities located at Una, Himachal Pradesh and Bawla, Gujarat. While the Himachal Pradesh unit will be manufacturing nacelles and hubs, the Gujarat unit will be making blades and towers for the wind turbines.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Devansh Jain, one of the Directors said “We are delighted to announce the commencement of commercial production of our Una unit, to manufacture nacelles and hubs for wind turbines. This initiative will help chart the Inox Group’s diversification strategy in the renewable energy space, and provide green energy for India’s growth needs, in an environmentally responsible manner.”

IWL is a part of the $2 billion Inox Group which has interests in diverse businesses including industrial gases, refrigerants, chemicals, carbon credits, cryogenic engineering, entertainment and renewable energy.
