Shimla: A hit and run accident left the pillion rider of a motorcycle dead and the rider seriously injured in Shimla city on Thursday night.
The dead person has been identified as Dalip Singh (25), son of Sadanand, who is a resident of village Balagh in Theog sub-division,†said a police spokesman of Shimla west police station.
The motorcycle (HP-56-2464) is said to have been hit from behind by a speeding vehicle near Chakkar locality in Shimla at about 11 p.m. on Thursday. The hit proved fatal for the victim, even though both the riders were wearing helmets, said the spokesman.
Raj Kumar, son of Sher Singh, a resident of Basantpur was grievously injured and has been admitted to IGMC, hospital.
A case has been registered and investigations are going on to trace the speeding vehicle which the two-wheeler at night, said the police.
