Mandi: Nine persons were feared to have been killed when a Scorpio in which they were traveling plunged into Beas at Dawada near Largi Hydel Project on N.H. 21 around 2 AM last night.
A group of persons from Hamirpur (Dhunera) were going to Manikaran in two vehicles when the ill-fated car going ahead went out of the road and lost in the flooded Beas. Eye-witnesses said the vehicle was not visible.
Mr Sonal Agnihotri, S.P., who had been contacted by the occupants of the other vehicle, said a police party from Aut Police Station was immediately rushed to the spot. He said he could not visit the spot as the Mandi-Kulu highway was blocked at 3-4 points due to landslides.
At the same point a truck aslo fell in beas just 3 days back.
Rescue opertions have been started since 3am but police party has not been able to locate the ill fated Vechicle till 10 am
