Himachal declares 13th May as a Gazetted Holiday

Shimla: On account of forthcoming 15th Lok Sabha Elections Himachal Pradesh Government has announced 13.04.2009 as a Gazetted Holiday to ensure maximum number of vote casting. Alongwith it, special casual leave/ maximum facilities may be given to those employees who are working in different places in the State but have right to vote in other constituencies/places in the Pradesh on the production of certificate of the concerned Presiding Officer that the employees has actually cast his/her vote.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer, Anil Khachi, revealed that Election Commission of India (ECI) has given permission to use Government rest house/ Dak Bungalow/ PSU Guest House by the Political Parties and candidates subject to the payment of charges under certain conditions.

Furthermore, he clarified that this permission is only granted to use these govt. accommodations solely for the purpose of “rest” and the rooms will not be allotted to the same person for more than 48 hours.

In case the premises are required by polling related/election related officials, they will get priority. 48 hours before the close of poll till completion of the poll or re-poll no political workers/ parties will be allowed to stay in govt. guest houses.
