PALAMPUR:Â The Palampur Welfare Forum has expressed its serious concern over the large scale inflow of migrant labor to this town of Himachal Pradesh. In its meeting held here this afternoon the forum passed a resolution to this effect and urged to the Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal to look into the matter and direct the police for mandatory registration of all migrant labor working in and around Palampur.
The Forum also brought to the notice of Chief Minister that registration certificates to such labor were being given without verifying their antecedents as the contractor concerned was procuring the registration certificate from the police station. Forum said that even Bangla Deshi labor had also come to the town.
Mr. U. C. Verma Secretary of the forum urged the Chief Minister that after verification of the antecedents, their records should be made available on the website of the state police. The SSP should also convey the antecedents to their counterparts in the concerned states so that no anti social element should enter in the town.
