Shimla: Taking cognizance of violations of election code of conduct, chief electoral officer Anil Khachi sought an explanation from the government on Monday about CL Gupta, chairman school education board, being part of BJPs election campaign.
Gupta is reported to have made a statement about being appointed advisor by the BJP election campaign committee.
Kuldeep Rathore, congress general secretary, had brought it to the notice of the electoral officer that the education board chairman figured in on a BJP election panel that was incharge of preparing election material.
Khachi when contacted said that the chief secretary has been asked to reply to the reported violation pointed out.
The chief electoral officer also said that the principal education secretary had been asked to respond to JBT teachers being appointed in violation of election code of conduct. A complaint from Bilaspur had been received on the matter, he said.
Meanwhile the election commission has rejected a state pollution control request for issuing of establishment and operational certificates to some industrial units, for which permission was sought.
However the commission has permitted going ahead with tendering process for engaging water tankers to meet shortages. Process for tendering to lift supplies of public distribution systems have also been permitted, a spokesman of the election commission stated.
