Himachal Celebrates Women’s Day

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh celebrated Women’s Day with great enthusiasm. A State level function was organized at the historic Ridge Maidan.

Rashima Gupta, Principal Secretary of Social Justice and Empowerment, spoke about the bold life females are leading these days with their contribution in the sectors of business, commerce, engineering, army, art, space science as well as managing a family.
Subhashish Panda, Director, Social Justice & Empowerment, threw some light over the brief history of Women’s Day and said that the 8th March, 2011 will be celebrated as century day because in the year 1911 first International Women’s Day was celebrated on suggestion of Ms Klara Jetkin.

A Blood donation camp was also organised and many women’ swere honoured on the occasion.

Raised in Shimla and originally from Mandi district, Disha wears many caps which includes being part of a lead team of a fast growing IT company based out of Chandigarh. Earlier Disha was associated with My Himachal and visits Shimla regularly.
