MHRD delegation inspects location for Mandi IIT

[lang_en]A four-member team examined the 2647 bighas of land at Kamand in the Drang area of Himachal Pradesh for the proposed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). The team was from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and also inspected Valabh Postgraduate College’s new building and HPTDC-run Mandav hotel complex.

The team included N.K. Sinha, Joint Secretary in the HRD Ministry; Rene Batra, Deputy Secretary, University Grants Commission (UGC); Dr. S.D Saxena, IIT Roorkee Director; N. Rao, a technical expert; P.C Dhiman, Principal Secretary Education and Deputy Commissioner, Mandi.

The proposed sites are around 15 kms from Mandi and around 45 kms from the Bhuntar airport.[/lang_en]
