KUMARHATTI: The launching of Giri water scheme rather to yield benefits has come as a headache for the residents particularly those residing along Kalka-Shimla national highway here. The failure of IPH department to fill the pits being dug up by the department in past few days to check the blockage in the under-ground water pipes have proved major hassles for residents. The uncovered pits were also proving fatal to motorists on highway who quite often met with accidents due to the pits of big size.
The pits of two and half feet were never filled by the department. Interestingly the PWD was also silent on the matter. The couple of accidents including one major few days back in which two motor cycle borne youth were fallen in pit have taken place. The uncovered pits were an open invitation to serious accident particularly in night.
Ironically the IPH did not bother to put any warning sign on pit to alert the motorists.
