Torch For Tibet Protest March Held

Shimla: Protesting Tibetans today participated in a ‘Torch for Tibet’ procession to raise the issue of human right violation, in which dozens of innocent people were killed by the Chinese authorities recently.

Tenzin of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC) said, “We are not against the Olympic spirit that is a great platform for the sporting community of the world but a country like China which has brutally violated human rights of the Tibetan people for decades does not deserve to host such an event.”

“Our rival “Torch for Tibet’ protest urges nations to boycott the Chinese Olympics so as to show solidarity with the repressed Tibetan people,” he said.

Other than RTYC, Friends of Tibet, Shimla Tibet Solidarity Community, Bhartat Tibet Maitri Sangh, Baharat Tibet Sahyog Manch and Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Sangh outfits also participated in the protest march held today.
