Water problem worsens

KUMARHATTI: Even as summer was about to set in the town and its surrounding localities were already facing severe water shortage these days. In fact the water problem was continued from the past two months but the situation has gone from bad to worse in past few days. The considerable downfall in water outflow in sources and un-planed distribution by IPH department have made the matter worse for residents who were clueless to tackle the problem when summer would be at peak in coming months.

According to resident’s, the daily water supply that used to be on from 8 am to 2 pm usually has now curtailed between 10.30 am to 11.15 am. Moreover the pressure was also very low. No rules were being followed by IPH staff to manage the water distribution in town. In fact the water supply was totally unfair and purely based on staff discretion. The residents have to chase down the staff daily to ensure water supply to their respective areas.

Earlier the water shortage was due to shag in water lifting motors and now IPH claimed that water discharge in two submersible pumps of department have declined due to the boring of other pumps by people on their private lands. The two pumps have virtually dried up and presently the IPH was relying on a natural source to feed water requirement of town.

The situation was worsening with the each passing days and coming days would be very tough, rued a shopkeeper at Himmatpur Dawli locality adjoining the town.
