SJVNL Pays Rs.136 crores Interim Dividend

Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. (SJVNL)has paid an interim dividend of Rs. 136 crore to the equity partners Governments of India and Himachal Pradesh for its financial performance during the year 2007-08.

On account of equity participation of 75% in the corporation, the dividend cheque of Rs.102 crore was presented to the Union Minister of Power, Sushil Kumar Shinde, jointly by H.K. Sharma, CMD, J.K. Sharma, Director (Civil), R.S. Katoch, Director (Personnel), Shri K.K. Garg, Director (Finance) and R.P. Singh, Director (Electrical) recently.
H.K. Sharma informed that the Company’s 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Power Station had performed exceedingly well during the current year 2007-08 and achieved an all time high generation of over 6350 million units so far.

He also informed that the generation achieved against last year’s 5941 million units was the end result of efficient silt management and machine management measures adopted by the company.
Himachal Pradesh Govt. holds 25% equity in the Nathpa Jhakri Power Station, while India Govt. holds the balance 75% equity.

Himachal Pradesh has already been paid an interim dividend of Rs. 34 crore.

In financial year 2006-07, the company had paid a dividend of Rs. 235 crore against a net profit of Rs. 732.71 crore.
