CM appeals for liberal donation towards Chief Minister’s relief fund

Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, has appealed to every affording person to donate liberally towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund out of their hard earned income to help the poor and deserving avail of better and healthy life. In a thanks note addressed to the donors of district Una, he visited two days ago and large number of organizations came forward with their contribution towards the Fund paving the way to others to follow suit.

Chief Minister said that the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund had been created with a view to deliver added financial aid to poor and deserving in getting their ailing members treated at good health institutions and help the drastically poor and economically deprived families make their both ends meet, get their marriageable daughters married as per the traditions of the society. He said that it was a pious service towards the suffering humanity where every person needed to be partner. He said that the money thus collected was exempted from income tax provisions.

Prof. Dhumal has thanked the donors who donated Rs. 1,10,952 towards the Chief Minister during his one day visit to Una town and included PWD Contractors Association, Rs. 51,000; Gram Panchayat Basoli and Pir Nigaah Temple Trust, Rs. 21,000; Joint Patwar Kanungo Maha Sangh, Rs 11,111; Medical Association, Rs. 5,100; HPJE’s Association, Rs. 5,140; Electrical Contractors Association, Rs. 5,100; Press Club of Una, Rs. 3,100; Rotary Club, Rs. 3,100; Akhil Bhartiya Samta Andolan, Rs. 2,100; and Yuva Hindu Kalyan Parishad, Rs. 2,100.

Chief Minister said that he had already made an appeal to the people not to waste money on garlands and gifts to be presented to the dignitaries on various occasions and instead donate the same amount to any deserving person or family to help them meet their social and family requirements with their contribution conveniently. He said that his government would not encourage unproductive and wasteful expenditure and utilize the same for the welfare of the people and development of the state. He said that there was need to create awareness amongst the masses about the utility of such practices for the benefit of the common man. He appealed to the people to come forward with their generous contributions towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund so that every deserving person was provided required relief.
