[lang_en]Shimla:Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVNL) by the end of December quarter had achieved a record generation for the corresponding period over the years and has surpassed last years generation by as much as 444 million units

HK Sharma, chairman-cum-managing director SJVNL disclosed that the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydroelectric Power Station, which happens to the country’s single largest hydro-electric generator has by the end of 2007 generated 5763 million units
“This not only surpasses the target signed with the ministry of power by 200 million units but is a record generation achieved for the plant in three quarters,†said Sharma.
Sharma said that SJVNL would be able to meet its 6400 million unit generation target for the fiscal year set by the union power ministry.
He informed that the company during the financial year 2006-07 had achieved a 47% increase in electricity generation, net profits and the dividends paid.
Sharma stated that civil works at the 412 MW Rampur hydro-electric project were proceeding satisfactorily and he hoped that during the new year SJVNL would be able to bag two other project, which include the Luhri and Khab Hydro electric projects.
SJVN had recorded net profits of Rs.732.71 crore in 2006-07 and paid dividends of Rs.235 crore to the equity partners, which include the central government and the government of Himachal Pradesh, company spokesman VK Verma disclosed.[/lang_en]
