Shimla: Parents of dental students are in a dilemma over migratory admission into the government college here for despite be issued selection letters the authorities have yet not admitted the ten students selected against vacant seats.
Dental college Principal Ashu Bhardwaj told My Himachal News “the matter is under process. The students have been selected as per merit but the government is seeking some clarifications, which has caused the delay in admission,’ she said. However she denied that there was any intention to deny admission to the students who have been selected.
On the other hand the parents of the students allege that after being issued letters of admission, the authorities were not admitting the students. “The government dental college advertised for ten seats in the BDS second year class that had fallen vacant because of some students moving out, said Vani, a parent of one of the student. ‘About 20 students from other dental colleges within the state applied and ten were selected on merit basis but now they are not being admitted,’ she said.
Another parent said that the students who were selected had cleared their three year dues which amounted to about Rs 2.5 lakhs with the private dental colleges of Sundernagar, Solan and Baddi to secure a no objection certificate for migration to another college.
He said that with not being admitted into the government dental college after having undergone the due process, the students were a depressed lot as they were losing out on the requisite number of attendance needed as a pre-condition for sitting for their semester examinations.
