325 left in fray for 65 seats, Congress to contest on 64 only

Shimla: The congress will not have any candidate from Gangat in Kangra as Bodh Raj’s nomination was cancelled. Moreover, 39 candidates withdrew their nomination papers here today, thus making exclusion of total 40 candidates. Now, there are as many as 325 contestants for the 65 constituency seats for 2nd Phase Assembly Elections that go to the polls on 19th December.

Chief electoral officer Manisha Nanda disclosed that most of the candidates who withdrew their papers from the contest were independents.

To summarize 31 Independent candidates withdrew their papers, four Lok Jan Shakti party candidates from Jubbal-Kotkhai, Nahan, Pragpur and Dharamshala seats, two from Bhartiya Chetana Party for the Thural, and Gopalpur party, one from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and there was one from BSP for the Solan seat.
