Shimla: The Election Commission has stalled he takeover of two temples by the state government till the election process was completed in the state..Just after announcement of the state elections, the government had decided to hand over the Satya Narayan temple run by a Vishav Hindu Parishad affiliated trust at Rampur to the Bhimakali Temple Trust, a government trust headed by the chief minister.
Government officials has subsequently taken possession of the temple offering chest and locked up the office of the temple on 20th October. The action had caused tension in the town and a complaint had been filed with the election commission.
A spokesperson of the election department stated that the commission has ordered that the requisition of Satya Narayan Temple in Rampur and Hanuman Temple at Shoghi could be made before the election process was completed.
Complaints regarding requisition of the two temples were received by the Chief Electoral Officer and the Shimla deputy commissioner was asked to send a report on the matter, the spokesperson explained.
â€After receiving the fact-finding report, it was forwarded to the Election Commission, who have taken a strong view on the matter and have directed that the government could not make such a requisition before the election process was completed,†said the spokesperson.
