One booked in Una district for possessing contraband poppy husk

The police booked one Ranjit Singh alias Jodha, a resident of Laluwal village of Kshetran panchayat in Santoshgarh assembly constituency of Una district under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, today.

Following a lead, a police party headed by police officer Diwakar Sharma, in a pre-dawn raid on the Ranjit Singh’s premises recovered 311.6 kilograms of poppy husk, hidden away in godown where wheat straw was stored. The poppy husk was reportedly stored in two under ground drums. Ranjit Singh has been arrested and taken into police custody. This is one of the largest catch of the contraband in the area in recent times.
