Nalagarh villagers seek removal of TCP Act

SOLAN: Raising slogans against Town and Country Planning (TCP) department the hundred of villagers have sought removal of TCP act from Nalagarh sub division at Nalagarh today. United under the TCP Sangresh Samiti, the villagers expressed total dismay at TCP rules and regulations that were only causing hassles to them rather to serve any purpose.

Even to construct small shed the one has to follow long procedures, rued villagers. The hard procedures and long delay in getting permission were only messing up the things, they lamented. The most of villagers have small land holdings and it was quite unfair to cover them under TCP act, pointed out Mr. Daya Ram Ranger President of Sangresh Samiti.

He said that the area has already faced unplanned and indiscriminate growth. Imposing TCP rule now would not serve any purpose, he maintained. It has only brought into force to cause embarrassment to poor villagers, he said. Later the villagers handed over a demand charter to CM thorough Nalagarh SDM.

It may be mentioned here that 124 revenue villages from Nalagarh area were included in TCP act in May this year after the creation of Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh Development Authority thus raising the tally of villages under TCP to 228. To ease the rules the BBNDA has recently decided to give NOC power to respective panchayats of 171 villages.
