GOVERNMENT ORDERS INQUIRY INTO DADAHU HOSPITAL ‘MISMANAGEMENT’

Acting on the complaint received from Dadahu unit of Youth Congress, and news item published on My Himachal, government of Himachal Pradesh today ordered inquiry into the allegations of ‘mismanagement’ of health institution and ‘carelessness and deplorable attitude’ of Hospital staff and Doctors. As per information received late this evening Chief Medical Officer Sirmour has deputed a senior officer to inquire into the allegations and an incident which led to the Gharaou of the Hospital staff in the night hours on June 9 last.

As per sources senior most Block Medical Officer of the district Mr P. S. Bhati would conduct the inquiry which would commence from Friday. Chief Medical Officer of Sirmour Mr. A. K. Gupta who has joined his new posting here last week has already paid a visit to the Dadahu Hospital yesterday and asked staff to provide every possible facility to the people of the area. He pointed out several flaws during the inspection and asked the staff for immediate correction. He made it clear the any carelessness during the government duty would not be tolerated. He also interacted with the local residents and assured his best.

President of Dadahu Unit of Youth Congress and Vice President of Dadahu Panchyat Mr. Amit Bhardwaj in a letter written to Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh yesterday had demanded transfer of total staff of the Hospital and several immediate efforts for the improvement of the ‘pathetic condition’ of the Hospital. He had written that he was bringing the matter into the notice of state government since last year. He has warned that if the action was not initiated within 15 days he would file a PIL in the High Court to get the relief in this matter. He had leveled several serious allegations against the Doctors and hospital staff in his letter. He demanded high level inquiry in to the June 9 incident.

It may be recalled that a large number of residents of Dadahu, a small town situated at a distance of 35 K.M. from here turned up to the Dadahu Referral Hospital in the night hours on 9th June to protest against the alleged ‘carelessness’ of Doctors and other Para Medical staff of the hospital.

Trouble started at around 9.00 P.M. last night when some residents spread this message that a women injured in an accident was waiting for treatment for over three hours in the Hospital compound and was in serious condition. A mob of local residents led by Vice President Amit Kumar Bhardwaj entered the Hospital compound and Gharou the Hospital staff for more than two hours. The situation turned worse when people came to know that patient Shayama Devi resident of village Chooli in Dadahu SubTehsil who had injured in an accident and was having fracture in the great toe of the foot and injuries on the several parts of the body was not attended in the hospital. They alleged that she was brought bleeding at 6.00 PM in the Hospital for the treatment but was still waiting for first aid treatement.

Smelling the seriousness of the situation S.D.M. Nahan Mr. Sumit Khimta, took an immediate action and asked Doctor and Naib Tehsildar Dadahu to rush to the Hospital immediately and resolve the public grievances. He also appealed the Panchayat representatives and other imminent residents of Dadahu who contacted him, to maintain peace at any cost. He also assured residents that the matter would be investigated thoroughly.
