ANOTHER ASSULT ON POLICE IN SIRMOUR DISTRICT

Within 24 hours of an unfortunate incident of assault on police team of Nahan police station by some miscreants in the Katcha Tank locality of Nahan town another incident of an assault on Dy S.P. Rajgarh Mr Bhagmal Thakur by a drunken man, last evening has been reported from the Rajgarh, about 120 K.M. from here.

According to reports reached here this evening, last evening in the Rajgarh market when Dy S.P. Mr Bhagmal Thakur on way to his home in his car, was misbehaved by a drunken man near Rajgarh Telephone Exchange where Dy S.P. had to stop his vehicle due to over crowd and heavy traffic on the road. It is alleged that car of Dy S.P. touched a pedestrian Ranbir Thakur, resident of village Lana who was under the influence of liquor. Ranbir Thakur allegedly misbehaved with the Dy S.P. and tried to thrash him by trying to pull him out of his car by catching him from the collar of his shirt. Dy S.P. reportedly retaliated and thrashed him badly by coming out of his car.

Ranbir Thakur was taken to police station. But actually trouble started when police took him to Hospital for medical check up after registering a case. Local residents turned over in the Hospital compound in large number at about 10.30 P.M. and shouted slogans against Dy S.P. and Rajgarh police. People were demanding registering of a similar case against the Dy S.P. also. Situation turned worse when some BJP workers celebrating party’s Hamir Pur win joined the agitators.

When administration noticed the seriousness of the situation which was reportedly going out of control as agitators were threatening ‘direct action’, S.D.M. Rajgarh Mr Vivek Chandel came on the spot and after his two hour continuous persuading ultimately people agreed to withdrew their agitation on some grounds agreed between both parties, at around 12.30 A.M., in the wee hours today.

As per report, police has registered a case against the Ranbir Thakur in the ‘soft way’ as agreed between the both parties in the hospital compound.

Continuous attack on the Sirmour police was giving sleepless nights to the police officers of the district.

As per another information Nahan Police has reportedly arrested some more persons late this evening in connection of assault on four police officers at Nahan.
