Handicapped children deprived of help under Sarv Shiksha Abhyan Project [SSA] by the Project Officers met Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh at Haripur Dhar yesterday evening under the leadership of Shri Kush Parmar, former MLA of Nahan and explained their plight as how they were being denied help under SSA project by the bureaucrats.
Chief Minister assured over 15 handicapped Children, their parents, Panchyat Presidents and other social workers of the district accompanying them that they would get benefit under the ‘Home Based Programme for Handicapped Children with special needs’ as they were getting in the previous year.
He took it very seriously as how officers of SSA had denied aid for 20 handicapped children under this project this year. He assured that the matter would be inquired thoroughly. He was informed by the delegation that if the aid would be discontinued some seriously sick handicapped children may not survive for long as their poor families were not able to bear the expense of their treatment. They pleaded that more and more handicapped children of the district should be covered under this programme otherwise the very purpose of the project would be defeated
