Centre approves an Agriculture Scheme of Rs. 22.22 crore for Himachal

J.C. Rana, Director Agriculture disclosed today that Centre Government had approved an Agriculture Scheme of Rs. 22.22 crore for Himachal Pradesh for carrying out speedy development in agriculture sector during 2007-08.
The approval was accorded in a meeting held at
New Delhi today.
He said that Rs. 3.67 crore would be spent on Crop Improvement Programme, Rs. 3.64 crore on Agriculture Mechanism Scheme, Rs. 2.41 crore on Coordinated Nutrition Management, Rs. 1.50 crore on National Watershed Development Project, Rs. 1.25 crore on Agriculture Water Management and Land Conservation and Rs. 8.88 crore on other forestry activities under the plan.
Rana said that Rs. 64.23 lac would be spent on various activities aimed at upliftment of Women under this plan. Rs. 30 lac would be spent on imparting training of Organic Cultivation to 2000 farmers, he added.
P.K. Basu, Additional Secretary, Agriculture, Govt. of India and Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Dr. P.C. Kapoor were also present in the meeting.
