Better yielding hybrid cabbage seed is developed by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute at Himachal Pradesh, which will be released by next month.
The new variety of the cabbage seed can produce around 40% more yield and is called KCH-5. However, after successful field trails the new seed is awaiting the approval of the All India Coordinated Trials (AICT), as said by Head of the regional station S R Sharma told PTI.
He also said that the seed has been developed at temperate climate, which can give a yield of 35 tonnes a hectare if grown at an optimum temperature level of 15-20 degree Celsius and will give an yield of 35 tonnes a hectare as against the 25 tonnes from normal varieties.
