New Delhi, June 28 (IANS) At least 30 people, including 10 police personnel, were injured after people pelted stones at a stationary passenger train here Friday morning, police said. Eight people have been arrested.
A group of people stopped the train, coming from Rohtak in Haryana to Delhi, around 7 a.m. at west Delhi’s Nangloi railway station and started pelting stones.
“At least 20 passengers were injured while 10 police personnel, who were sent to stop the mob, were also pelted with stones,” said a police officer.
The enraged mob stopped the train for over two hours. “Eight people have been arrested,” said the officer.
The incident occurred after a fight between two groups of train passengers Thursday night. The groups were from Rohtak and Delhi’s Prem Nagar area.
Around 100 people collected at Nangloi railway station Friday morning and started pelting stones, the officer said.
