Rajasthan official arrested for graft

Jaipur, June 28 (IANS) A Rajasthan Administrative Service official posted as zonal commissioner in the municipal corporation’s office here was arrested Friday on corruption charges, police said.

According to a police officer, Pankaj Prabhakar was posted in Jaipur Municipal Corporations’ Mansarovar Zone.

“One Abhinav Chaturvedi approached Rajasthan Police’s Anti-Corruption Bureau saying that Prabhakar was demanding a bribe for approving construction in his house in Mansarovar area. After lodging the complaint, we laid a trap,” said Inspector General ACB Smita Srivastava.

She added Prabhakar and his junior Gajdhar Ashok – a grade four employee – were arrested after they took a bribe of Rs.51,000 from Chaturvedi.
