Panaji, May 27 (IANS) Six people suspected of being bookies involved in the spot fixing scandal in the Indian Premier League (IPL) have been detained in Goa Monday, a spokesperson said.
The six, whose names have not yet been released, were picked up from a resort in Candolim, a beach village located 15 km from here.
“They were in Goa for 45 days, which coincides with the duration of the IPL. They came here from Mumbai,” a police officer said.
The detention of the six followed intelligence from Delhi Police, who are in Goa as part of the spot fixing investigation in which three Rajasthan Royals players, including S. Sreesanth, have been arrested.
