Rio de Janeiro, May 2 (IANS) Ecuadorian club Emelec will face Brazil’s Fluminense next Thursday in the Copa Libertadores round of 16 first leg, to be played in Ecuador’s southwestern city of Guayaquil.
“We have to fight to death, as we did in the first round when we faced Penarol (Uruguay), another big team, and we overcame it,” Emelec’s coach Gustavo Quinteros told the press Wednesday.
The match will be played Thursday at 2030 local time (0130 GMT Friday) in George Capwell stadium, with Colombian Wilmar Roldan as referee.
Quinteros admitted it will be a difficult match because Fluminense, led by Abel Braga, is a “complicated rival”.
“We have to try to obtain a good goal difference at home,” added Quinteros.
