Chennai, April 29 (IANS) Kerala-based Rs.200-crore food products Manjilas Group is targeting a 10 percent market share in Tamil Nadu’s rice sevai packet market in couple of years, a company official said.
“We are hoping to gain a 10 percent market share in the Tamil Nadu’s 30 lakh rice sevai packet market. We will have our strategies towards that,” Vinod Manjila, director, Manjilas Group, told reporters here Monday.
He said the group had recently commissioned a Rs.20-crore, 1,500 tonnes per month (tpm) processing plant in Pollachi near Coimbatore, around 500 km from here.
“We will first expand in Tamil Nadu and look at Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh markets,” he added.
The rice sevai is priced slightly lower than the competition with a 200 gram packet costing Rs.26 and a 500 gram packet priced at Rs.65.
Nearly 50 percent of the group’s turnover is from rice and the balance is from rice products, pickles and other products.
