Aligarh, April 18 (IANS) At least 30 people were injured in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh as irate people clashed with police after the recovery of the dead body of a six-year-old girl suspected to have been raped early Thursday, police said.
Police officials said protestors in Banna Devi area blocked traffic in the morning after the body was found, adding “mild force and rubber bullets” were used to disperse the angry crowd.
Later, Senior Superintendent of Police Amit Pathak suspended two cops and sent a circle officer to the police lines.
“The situation is under control. We have taken some people in custody for interrogation,” Pathak told IANS.
Police said the body of the girl had been sent for post mortem and the case was being investigated.
