Mumbai, April 6 (IANS) Composer Leslie Lewis, who is on the advisory board of cricketer Brett Lee’s NGO Mewsic, says they will soon host a music concert for underprivileged children.
Lee, a music enthusiast himself, will be in Mumbai for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. He is currently a part of IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
“Brett Lee has an NGO called Mewsic. There are three board members and I am one of them. We do lot of things for children – teach them music, so that they can learn to concentrate. Brett Lee is going to be here for the IPL, so now we will do a concert for underprivileged children,” Lewis told IANS.
Lewis said Lee is a “great guy, focused and clear”.
Known for composing songs like “Jaanam samjha karo”, “Pari hoon main”, “Bombay girl” and “Pal”, Lewis said it is most important for him to sing from the heart.
“My unique style is from the heart and is still commercial. Music from the heart, which can appeal to more people in general, is tough. My songs like ‘Pari hoon main’ and `Yaaron’… everything which I have done has public appeal,” he said.
Lewis is currently working on his album. He is also busy formulating a music and dance show.
“I am in a process of setting up a new show. It’s a whole music show which I am doing, featuring me and my work. It will have song and dance. I don’t think an individual artist has done something like this before,” he said.
