London, April 5 (IANS) The Rolling Stones are set to perform in Hyde Park on July 6 after 44 years.
Their Hyde Park performance is scheduled a week after their gig in Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival. The performance is a part of July’s Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time Hyde Park concert series, reports thesun.co.uk.
Guitarist Ronnie Wood admits he was surprised, but excited when the band agreed for the Hyde Park show.
“I have been doing various things in the park with Rod Stewart and other people over the years. I never thought the Stones would do it, to be quite honest. But it’s come to fruition and it’s very pleasing,” he said.
Wood was at the band’s last performance in 1969 at the Hyde Park, not as a Stones’ but as a spectator.
