Kolkata: A middle-aged woman was today found lying in a pool of blood on the road side in West Bengal and she would undergo medical examination to ascertain if she was raped, police said.
“The bleeding woman was found lying beside a road in Baruipur following which she was admitted to hospital. To ascertain if she was raped we have asked for a medical examination,” South 24 Parganas district’s Superintendent of Police Pravin Tripathi told.
“The doctors suspect she had some urinary infection which caused the bleeding but we cannot comment unless we get the medical reports,” added Tripathi.
In another incident, a maid who was allegedly raped by her neighbour has demanded death punishment for the offender who was arrested here Sunday.
“We received a complaint of rape Sunday following which a medical examination was conducted on the victim. The report is awaited. We have registered a complaint, including the name of the person mentioned by the victim,” said an officer of Haridevpur police station in the city.
The incident happened Saturday afternoon when the victim, a mother of one, was alone in her house.
“After raping me, he threatened that if I opened my mouth he will kill me. He should be hanged. He has been harassing me for long,” said the victim.
