Presiding over a high level meeting of road engineers and officiating bureaucrats, public works minister Thakur Gulab Singh the recent prolonged rains had affected maintenance and restoration operations of roads.
The engineers put the damages to national highways at Rs 56 crore and to other major roads at Rs 280 crores.
Thakur said that PWD department had purchased Rs 51.94 crore worth of bitumen and there were 66,727 barrels in stock which would be used for road surfacing at the earliest.
Besides the minister, JC Sharma, secretary, PWD, Pradeep Chauhan, engineer-in-chief, AK Sharma director project and other officers participated in the meeting.
