Khundian-a town ignored

About 20kms from Jawalamukhi, Khundian is the central point of Changar area. Based near the Palampur-Jawalamukhi road, it was upgraded as a tehsil in 1988. However, till date the town is simply ignored. No proper facilities have yet been provided by the state Government to the local resident. The area is even politically overlooked and thus is facing problems like a proper bus stand, sanitation and hospital. The local police chowki is in bad shape and a known fact is that the stationed police officers here have no vehicles and neither a credible communication system to check crimes. The reasons are perfectly accountable for the increase in crime rate in this area.

What better can be expected with private infrastructure when the government offices don’t have government properties for themselves? The PHC building looks poor and shockingly lies outside the vicinity, making it tough for the patients. Constructed with the donation of Mr. Roop Singh Rana, a contractor of the area, the hospital doesn’t support proper staff and medical facilities. There is no ambulance service available and in spite of being a government hospital, sadly, it is not capable of facing any emergency situations.

The entire area supports a population of more than 50,000 but not a single hospital to see them through. Even the health care delivery system is totally paralyzed in the area. Deaths have increased in the past few years as mostly the patients die for want of medical treatment and proper drugs. Not only this, the residents usually face shortage of ration and kerosene oil. Heaps of garbage, animal dung and household waste and such sites are a common thing here. Despite various notices to a number of politicians and especially the local MLA Food and civil Supply Minister Ramesh Chaudhary, nothing has changed here since years.

    Hi,
I am totally agree with the above mantioned views & really this is a worse situation in Khundian Tehsil which is a center point in changar but still the politicians & Government ignoring. Lack of infra-structure is the major problem in same place. Even we have good forests & natural sources to make business but still due to lack of guidance, capitalists, & poor health & education sources are the major Obstacles in the development of Khundian.

Actual the leader of this area is not good and the people of this area beleive to fight with each other nothig else. Only the way to make this area better, is to have a leader of their own area.

Hi all.. Somehow, I don’t agree with some of the points mentioned above. Its all people who choose the leaders and contribute to development of place. we still lack in selecting the right people, However it is true that still we need lot of good factities in Khundiyan i.e. good School, College.. but we all need to pull up the shock as we are the future leader and make our place fully equipped with facility by contributing from our own.. there are many people who can give lactures on the misery of place .. but can’t take action.. we are the futures and we will take action to convert our dreams into reality once we will understand this.. our dream will definitely come to reality..
    Keep Himachal Beautiful and Green..
    Thanks

Hello this is Naveen Rana from Khundian (Ghatta) and I am a proper resider of this area and i thinks it is very bad that this area is partially refused by many of the politians and social workers and for them it’s only a basket full of followers and Voters. Even this area is prospering due to it’s full ability and a kind of majority, but on the hand basis needs of people are too far and it is a bottleneck for every leader to think twice for this town to be prosper.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Does anyone have pictures to highlight the good and bad of Khundian?

  10. Hi, In fact khundian is small town but people of the changer area are poor and honest they are not aware of the new things upgraded around the city and main link of the road is not connected to the village in around to the khundian city spread corruption till date. And the condition of the road is worn and danger till date. The main road is not repair khundian to dola kharyana govt make the road is point to point by one or three years. In khundian city there is no atm bank,no ambulance serviece, and other essential things are not updated. The poltical leaders is given the speech at time on occasion and festival to make the peoples fool . Thanks

khundian …… the central point of changer area… is very backward till now. The govt. didn’t focus on this area. they see here only for votes and than for nothing. i think that khundian teh should be Legislative Assembly in spite of JAWALAMUKHI or DEHRA. Than the MLA will be focus only to the changer area. And it will help to develop this area. its my request to the central Govt. that they think about this idea. It will be healpful for the development of changer. khundian teh. can become a famous city if the govt focus to develop this area.

All comments as given by the writer as last 8 years ago are true. No doubt, there has been gradual progress in work, however much more is needed and expected by the vast majority of rural community in this Changar area. There is no proper bus stand at Khundian, small PHC located outside the vicinity of main bazar is awaiting upgradation to CHC. ITI has been established during 2011 in a hired building and there is deficiency of teaching staff. Link road to Khundian town are in worst condition. Children for higher education are going to other places as there is no Govt college. Link road from Sujanpur -Pihri-Galoti-Tikkar-More-Khundian is still not completed. Area is scattered and the people have to travel on foot being there is no regular bus service to Khundian.
