The State Election Commissioner Smt. R.Bhattacharya said that the commission has notified the program for a special revision of electoral rolls in order to conduct the bye-elections to fill up the vacant constituencies/wards of the state’s Panchayati Raj Institutions with 1st January, 2008 as qualifying date for inclusion of names of electors who are eligible.
As per the programme, the draft electoral rolls which were prepared previous year would be published by 21st April, 08. All the claims and objections can be filed from 22nd to 28th April, 08 and the same would be decided between 29th April to 5th May, 08. The appeals can be filed between 6th to 12th May and the same would be decided between 13th to 19th May. Electoral rolls would be finally published by 21st May, 08, she added.
