Dehra Dun : The visit of AICC general secretary and Congress youth icon, Rahul to address a rally at the Parade Ground here at the state headquarters of Uttarakhand, has been out off to Dec 23 from the earlier planned date of Dec 20.
Congress sources while confirming this said that it had probably been done as the matter regarding the Lokpal Bill is now to be taken up in Parliament on Dec 20 and not Dec 19, as was anticipated earlier.
Taking into consideration the tirade that has been launched by Anna Hazare against Rahul Gandhi, accusing the latter of being the biggest impediment in a purposeful and effective Lokpal Bill, state Congress leaders feel that the happenings of Dec 20 in Parliament would determine the public response to the youth leader.
They said that almost the entire Congress leadership had come out in defence of Rahul Gandhi following the tirade by Anna Hazare, but how well had this defence been taken by the masses was yet to be known.
“By and large there is a feeling that after the proceedings of Parliament on Dec 20, the two days gap will also come as a breather for the public reaction, by which time ruffled feathers would have smoothen, which are necessary to make the rally a success and ensure there is no unwanted incidentâ€, sources claimed.
