New Delhi Both houses of parliament were adjourned Friday after protests by opposition members who were demanding the ouster of external affairs minister S.M. Krishna as he was named in an illegal mining case in Karnataka.
MPs in both the houses shouted slogans as soon as the Lok Sabha opened in the morning and asked the government to remove Krishna, who is under the police scanner for his alleged role in allowing illegal mining in Karnataka as the state’s chief minister 1999-2004.
As BJP members demanded action against Krishna, MPs from Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh also shouted slogans demanding a separate state to be carved out from the southern region.
Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the house till 12 noon when the din grew louder and protesting MPs refused to sit on their seats.
The Rajya Sabha was also adjourned till noon over Krishna, who on Thursday issued a statement denying the charges.
