Congress will not project any one as the chief ministerial candidate in Himachal Pradesh. This was stated by R.K.Dhawan, the in charge of party affairs of Congress in Himachal while talking to reporters in Una today. He said that elected congress legislators will decide on their leader and that the high command will announce the Chief Ministerial candidate after the elections.
Congress leader said that early elections will not cause any serious problems for the ruling party but however added that if the three tribal constituencies were at a disadvantage during the last elections, the remaining 65 were at loss this time as their mandate did not get a full five year term to perform.
Dhawan said efforts will be made to allot tickets to people having a clean image and relatively fresh faces. Women, if found fit to win will be given due representation, he added.
Commenting on reports of some senior congressmen lobbying to garner tickets for their wards in their place, the senior congressman retorted, saying that ‘when a doctor’s son can become a doctor and a trader’s son can become a trader, why can not a politician’s son become a politician’.
Dhawan said the BJP had no issues against the congress party in the state and that the party will go to the people of the state on the basis of the party’s performance during the last four and a half years. He reiterated that the Congress party will win the elections with a thumping majority.
