Peoples Party of Punjab workers being politically victimized – Manpreet Badal

Chandigarh: Struggling for political space in a highly surcharged environment, Manpreet Badal, president of Peoples Party of Punjab held that the Punjab government was deploying political terrorism as a tool to brow beat supporters of his party.

“PPP workers are being politically victimized. Already about a 1000 party workers have been falsely implicated under various charges at behest of Shiromini Akali Dal leaders,” said Manpreet here today.

Political terrorism will not be allowed, he said.

Cautioning that the state was heading for a financial disaster, Manpreet said, “the way state finances are being managed, the government will be left with not enough money to pay salaries to employees by next March.”

Announcing plans to declare the new party’s election manifesto by November 15, the PPP president also spelled out the organizational structure by saying that the party’s grand council consisted of 4500 members

He said that talks about an alliance were progressing with CPI, CPI(M) and SAD (Longowal), headed by Surjeet Singh Barnala’s wife.
