Shimla: Taking the government to task over deteroiating law and order, BJP, the main opposition party here charged the ruling congress party of providing patronage to criminal elements which had led to rise in thefts, murders, rapes and other serious criminal offences.

In Shimla district alone over 300 children are reported missing over the last five years of which still there is no trace of 104, he cited. Reports of missing tourists from various parts of the state was also a cause of concern, he said, adding that forest mafia was actively involved in the timber smuggling.
BJP state president Jai Ram Thakur rubbished the government achievement claim of getting to commission the troubled 126 MW Largi Project by saying “the project completed ten years behind schedule was still under a cloud.’
“No action has been taken against officials allegedly charged with misconduct and corruption, which had caused cost escalation and made it the most expensive power plant the state has executed so far,” said Thakur.
