Shimla: The state government today denied the allegations that there was any laxity on the part of district administration, which led to the death of a four year ailing child, Dinesh, who died on his way to the IGMC hospital Shimla, as the vehicle in which he was been carried got stuck during the rallies organized by the Congress and the BJP on August 29.
The state government maintained this in a reply submitted in the Himachal Pradesh High Court today against the notices, which sought reply from the state government, Congress party and the BJP on the issue of death of the child.
The Congress party and the BJP in their individual replies maintained that the death of child was regretful, but denied that the said vehicle got stuck in their respective rallies.
The state government submitted that the deceased child was being carried in a private car and not in an ambulance, as mentioned in newspapers. The administrative personnel’s on duty extended all possible help to the family members and made efforts to get the vehicle through, it added.
The Congress party in its reply denied that the vehicle carrying the ailing child was jammed in the rally of Congress party. On other hand BJP also maintained in its reply that the said vehicle was not stranded in BJPs rally.
Hearing to the Public Interest Litigation filed by Virender Thakur, the division bench of Chief Justice V.K. Gupta and Justice Rajeev Sharma has directed the petitioner to file rejoinder in the matter.
The petitioner had filed PIL on the basis of newspaper reports which had highlighted the death of a four year child, Dinesh, who had died on his way to the IGMC hospital Shimla as the vehicle in which he was been carried got stuck during the rallies organized by the Congress and the BJP.
The petitioner i has submitted that the there should be some guidelines which will ensure that during such rallies traffic on the city roads does not come to a halt. It has also been submitted that the political parties who organize such rallies are made responsible for smooth flow of traffic.
