The Himachal cabinet today approved a proposal to set up Private Universities, increased THE relief provided for accident victims, sanctioned additional administrative tribunal benches at Dharamshala and Mandi, ratified rules for HP Medical council, decided to categorize 54 more buildings as heritage buildings, approved opening of 15 new industrial training institutes (ITI) and created 1482 job openings of various categories in the government sector.
Presided over by chief minister Virbhadra Singh the cabinet granted permission to issue letter of intent for setting up of private universities in the State. By amending the Emergency Relief Manual the ex-gratia grant to kin of a deceased in an accident had been increased for Rs 75,000 to Rs 1 lakh and for disability the relief provided has increased to Rs 35,000, a cabinet spokesman said.
Another decision pertained to restructuring the wild life wing of the forest department by converting the Spiti Forest Division into Spiti Wild Life Wing and handing over of 5 wild life sanctuaries from territorial control to the Wild Life Wing.
Among the buildings included as heritage buildings are Auckland House School, Tara Hall, YWCA, YMCA, Rothney Castle, Convent of Jesus and Mary, Sterling Castle, Jakhoo Temple, Pari Mahal, Holly Lodge, DC Residence, Kamla Nehru Hospital, Bishop Cotton School, Kalka Shimla Railway Line, St Edwards School, DC Office, Shimla Sadar and Chhota Shimla police station and the Ellerslie Building.
The cabinet approved opening of new ITI’s at Killar (Pangi), Theog, Gopalpur, Garh Jamula, Gangath, Nirmand, Bharmour, Dada Siba, Santokhgarh, Talwar, Sujanpur Tihra, Lambloo, Chirgaon, Tissa, and Lachori (Banikhet). With this every assembly segment either has an ITI or ITC, said the cabinet spokesman.
Of the new jobs created, recruitment to urban local bodies, registrars for Tanda medical college, openings in revenue department, agricultural marketing board, horticulture department and filling up of backlog in the state electricity board were approved.
