Dharamshala: With more and more famers taking to natural farming, in Kangra district, 4670 more farmers have been brought under its ambit. Since the initiative was taken up in 2018, till now about 35850 farmers are associated with natural farming.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kangra Saurabh Jassal said that the interest of farmers in natural farming has increased and in the current financial year, farmers are doing natural farming in about 3600 hectare area.
Jaswal informed that about Rs 4.90 crore is being spent to encourage agriculture and allied activities in Kangra district. Of these, Rs 2.57 crore is being spent in the current financial year through the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) and Rs 2.29 crore is being spent on Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan Yojana.
The ADC informed that these farmers have been encouraged to adopt natural farming through 177 training camps organised in 814 panchayats of Kangra district in the current financial year.
