Dharamshala: Senior Congress leader, former minister Gurmukh Singh Bali died at AIIMS Delhi in the early morning hours of October 30, 2021. He was 67.
The information about the passing away of the strong congress leader from Kangra district was broken by his son RS Bali on Twitter.

“With a very sad heart, I have to inform you that my father and your dear Shri GS Bali ji is no longer with us. Last night he breathed his last at AIIMS in Delhi. My father always used to say, whether GS Bali is in the world or not, he will always be in the hearts of his supporters. His ideals and guidance will always remain in our hearts.” stated RS Bali
Born on 27 July 1954 at Kangra, Bali was a diploma holder in Mechanical Engineering. He was the Transport, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Technical Education Minister in Himachal Pradesh Cabinet.
Founder president of Himachal Nagrik Sudhar Sabha, he was also Chairman of the Himachal Social Bodies Federation. In the Congress party, he was the Convener of the Indian National Congress Vichar Manch from 1990 to 1997, President of the Congress Seva Dal from 1995 to 1998 and Joint Secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee from 1993 to 1998.
Elected to Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha for the first time in 1998, Bali was re-elected in 2003, 2007 and 2012 from Nagrota Bagwan assembly constituency. In the Virbhadra Singh-led government from 2003-2007 and from 2012-2017, GS Bali was a cabinet minister.
He lost the 2017 assembly election to Arun Kumar of BJP.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, Leader of opposition Mukesh Agnihotri and several other leaders have condoled the death of GS Bali.
According to family sources, the body of the late Congress leader would be flown to Dharamshala on Saturday evening and the last rites would be performed in Chamunda Dham near Dharamshala on Sunday.
