Manali: An Israeli national has alleged that she was raped near Manali after being offered a lift in a vehicle on Sunday morning. The woman accompanied by her friend has lodged a complaint with Manali police station.
District police chief Padam Chand said that the woman in her complaint has mentioned that she was offered in a vehicle when she was looking for a cab to go to Kaza in Spiti valley.
The victim alleges that there were 6 men in the vehicle and two of them raped her.
The police officer said that a medical examination had been carried out and the report had been sent to Mandi for expert opinion.
After registering the case, police have initiated investigations even though there were not many clues about the crime because the woman was not able to recollect much about the vehicle or the perpetrators of the crime.
However, the police maintain that they would be able to make a breakthrough as the as entire town and its surroundings was under the surveillance of CCTV cameras.
Padam Chand said that CCTV footages was being checked and ground investigation to nab the culprits was also being carried out.
In June 2013, an American tourist had also lodged a gang rape case in Manali , where the victim was first offered a lift by a truck at night and the raped in the moving vehicle.
The police had cracked the case and arrested three Nepali nationals for having committed the crime.
