The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations declared results of class 10 (ICSE) and class 12 (ISC) on Monday, with girls once again outshining the boys across the country.
Ishita Negi of Shimla Public School (SPS) stood out as topper in her school, scoring 93%. She was followed by Akhilesh Singh Negi and Vanshika Chandel, who scored 89%, and Akshat Singh and Ankita Thakur with 88%.
With an overall pass percentage at the national level as 98.49%, in SPS, all 52 students who appeared for the exam, came out in flying colors. 47 SPS students got 1st Division, 5 students stood out with 2nd division, and none of them have been reported with a 3rd division.
With major schools in the town having shifted from ICSE to CBSE board, Shimla Public School is among the few who stick to their affiliation with ICSE along with Auckland House and Bishop Cotton School. It was in 1986, when SPS got its affiliation to the council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, and the first batch had passed out in 1990.
Where CBSE board enjoys an upper hand across the country because most competitive examinations are based on CBSE syllabus, it is ICSE board, which is advocated by academicians for imparting practical knowledge. With the ICSE results declared today, students across the country now eagerly await declaration of the CBSE results, which are expected before May end.
